Officially, the Kinch Tunnel that leads into Highway I-297 is what connects the Bronx into Westchester County. However, both sides of the trip refer to the stretch of highway as the Longest Road in America, or for short, simply the Long Road. This is because the stretch of interstate is fairly narrow, winding and lined on either side by tall elm trees and no real sign of civilization until you reach either Westchester or the Bronx, depending on the direction your driving in. Hitchhikers are occasionally spotted roaming this stretch of road, but other than that it is a very lonesome experience. The actual stretch of road isn't very long, but the sense of distance between the two counties feels like hours of traveling in total isolation, especially as the trees start to inhibit radio reception.
